Uhmmm who makes them? I always see them in steel..now that I think about it..I aint ever seen one in aluminum either? Is there not a demand for them or is ok to use a steel one? Would that cause some kind of magnetic problem with the coils? I know it would elminate the need for a yoke though. Somebody set the kid straight please.

Squiddly, never any call for brass replacements.you would also lengthen the frame with one. Most are steel, this way if they go on a brass or alloy frame you chop the frame slip the chuck on the inside of the frame and use a thinner yoke keeping the length of the machine about the same.

Oh alright so just clip off the old vise and no welding or nothing just bolt it on an go if you wanted to? I figured the vibrations would rattle it a bit? I seen some Juan Puente Machines that had a bolted on coil base...I thought it was kinda weird...shows ya learn something everyday huh?!
