There have been some pretty serious warnings and high level BOLO's regarding recent outbreaks of both meningitis and encephalitis. Meningitis outbreaks are running high amongst children in school, especially those kids who take band, and may jokingly trade musical instruments, creating a path of transmission.
Encephalitis is more of a vector borne problem with the primary vector being mosquitoes, birds and rodents.
Take care,

I just received word today that a customer of mine died a week ago and they think it was meningitis. He was one of those genuinely good guys too. Just finished college a couple of years ago and was just beginning life really. It's a shame.

Good lookin out Bruce.I know there have been several deaths the last year or two from meningitis here in ohio especially in the schools where it would be spread pretty easy, been several students and also a few teachers, not sure about the encephalitis though havent heard much about it at least not yet anyway.

Its basically Strep A, coming as a result of trauma, like say surgery, or other open entry path....
Still scratchin my head over how some poor girl ended up with it on her chest after tryin on clothes...

Have had a few school cases here in mass.
my wife and 2 kids have been dealing with the flu symptoms this past week.
the flu is spreading like wildfire! i can see why meningitus is spreading because those that have it assume only the flu and hope they will get better,
meanwhile coughing and hacking at school or the convenient or grocery store.
im sure it will get worse for years to come..
