Has anyone tried Caswells Black Oxide. Just how deep a black can you get with this treatment. I can only get the stuff in a 2.5 gallon kit at a couple hundred dollars. Just wanna be sure it will do the job before I part with any cash.

WTF!!!!!, you can blacken a frame without that Shiz.....heat and oil, heat and canola oil, heat and oil. i'd rather spend 200 on parts than shiz to blacken somit.

Totally agree dudes, but I wasn't looking to use this on my frames, I want to use it to blacken all my parts right down to the washers. I really dig that allblack ;)look. And I'm a real lazy cunt too, so if all I need to do is dump my shit into a solution of this shit to get the result I'm after then fuck it I'm one happy fella. And yeah, she's a bit pricey, but I think it's 2.5 gallons of concentrate so the stuff should go a long way. Could probably use it on other things like bike parts and such.

Yeah it'll do what yer wanting it to do...I asked a friend of mine at the local bike shop, and he said they use it to make parts super black...

Buy the big bucket and sell little bottles to your buddies.

So after some pissing about, I finally got my hands on this stuff. And blow me sideways it certainly does the trick. You get a really sweet deep black and I've used it on just about everything. I've got a couple of ductile iron frames that I was originally going to paint, sort of aiming for that Soba Pilot look, but I dunked one into this shit instead and that was it for me. I completed the piece over the weekend. Dressed the bitch all up in black. Will post a pic. Just waiting on some copper to run up some contact screws.

I was seriously considering doing just that, Desert Rat. But since I'm so happy with the results, man I gonna keep it all to myself. And besides I've got a shitload of uses for this stuff now.
