took me two weeks one this one lol its a mini liner runs at 5.5 volts at 124 hz and 52% duty but after i run it 4 awhile it seems to speed up and then slow down like its lossing power are surging is the best i can explain it does it only after its been running for a while so i think it maybe my coils i have just started to make them myself so havent really mastered that yet lol when i get some more coil wire im going to try to wind anouther set 4 it unless anyone thinks it could be something else but anyway i would like some feedback on my build any advice would be great i tell you what ever since i made my first one all i want to do is tinker with meteal to see what would be a great machine idea i think im addicted love to do it as much as i love to lay down ink hehe

Ok, feedback it is and im not tryin to be harsh

(1) Spring deck too far forward, it doesnt allow the a-bar to come back far enough over the rear coil. See if you have enough meat up front to trim it back some
(2) Looks like the a-bar may be bellying out when running (that'll cause the problem you've stated)
(3) Take a lil more time on your binders and you'll get closer to centre (good attempt though)
(4) Get rid of that hex bolt on the chuck looks wrong
(5) Strip it down and tidy the frame up a tad, smooth it out, then re-assemble and post most snaps
(6) Knuckle busters??? caps on the coil shelf are not the best idea, if you run your machines close or rested on your hand those things will bite ya.
(7) Slice the top off the Spring deck clamp, comes a lil far up, try and keep it the same as the deck.

Nice use of the feeler gauge ;)

Not bad, definately a good prototype build, help you get all the small problems
figured out before building the next one....follow Inkpressits advice...the quarter on your spring deck needs to be cut so it's edge matches the spring decks edge.....your a-bar doesn't cover your rear coil cause the spring deck is too far forward.....

One more thing to pay attention to is to try and match the width of your a-bar to the tops of the coils. Your cores look wider than the bar here which I guess is better than the bar being wider than the cores. Also, It almost looks like the a-bar is too close to the rear coil. Check to see if it is hitting the rear coil. If it is then you need to adjust things a bit so there is a slight gap between the bar and coil when the bar is on the front coil.

Well done for getting it up and running lol
like every body else has mention the geometry could be planned better.... You got a washer under the rear coil tut tut tut, what you could do if you've got a bit much height on your spring deck is heat the rear up-right and bend it back to give more gap between it and the rear core then file the spring deck to the correct height...
another thing.... Your hands look too soft to build machines lmao..... Get that blow torch onto them digits and grind yer nails boy LOL[jokin]

Judging by your enthusiasm and willingness to learn the craft, I wouldn't imagine it being long before we're seeing some real eye candy coming out of your workshop.
Me, I'd love to be able to build my own frames, but I have neither the skill nor the time to acquire it.
So keep up the good work, man.

Hell yeah man, keep it up they can only get better the more you do.How did ya do this one,is it welded up or did you carve it out of a solid piece?

welded out of 1018 flat stock

Why is it bad for the coil core being wider than the A-Bar? Is it just a matter of efficiency? I am making a few sets of "Flat top coils" where the top washer is part of the coil like an extreme T-top. I figure it can only boost the magnetic force of the coil but if there is more to it than that maybe I need to think about making modified A-Bars that match the tops of the coils.

They look cool, I believe a set will be on the next machine we put out. First we'll see how they tune up.
